Become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider)

Adults who complete the course become Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders), equipped with the knowledge, confidence and skills to provide someone with mental health information and support when it matters most.

To gain accreditation as an MHFAider, you will complete a short assessment at the end of the course. Accreditations are valid for three years, reflecting your commitment to maintaining up to date skills.

Course Delivery

The Standard Mental Health First Aid courses is delivered Face to Face over 2 days.  This format allows for practical, hands on learning and the opportunity to ask questions and practice skills in a safe environment

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, you will be able to:

  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems in adults

  • Use an evidence-based action plan to initiate a mental health first aid conversation

  • Assess for a range of crisis situations and provide initial support

  • Understand the prevalence and impact of mental illnesses, risk factors and treatments and supports available

  • Apply self-care practices as a Mental Health First Aider

Who Should Do This Course?

This course is suitable for individuals, workplaces of all sizes and volunteer and community-based groups. Anyone aged 18 years or older are welcome to attend.
